The EV Chargepoint Grant funds the installation of electric vehicle (EV) home charging points. Also referred to as the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles Grant (OZEV).
It’s open to those living in a rented property or flat owners, with a separate route available for landlords.
It replaced what was previously known as the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) on 1st April 2022.
Renters or flat owners can claim up to £350 off the costs of installing a home-charging point. While landlords can claim up to £500 per parking bay where these are installed (up to 60 maximum).

About the EV Chargepoint Grant
The EV Chargepoint Grant is a scheme that helps electric vehicle owners install a home charging point. It was introduced on 1st April 2022 as a replacement for the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS).
The grant covers up to 75% of the costs of installing a home charging point, giving you a £350 discount. Landlords installing home charging points in residential car parks can claim up to £500 per parking bay (60 maximum).
The previous Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS), offered up to £350 off an EV home charging point. Though the newer EV Chargepoint Grant specifies up to 75% off the cost of installation.
Who is eligible for the EV Chargepoint Grant?
The EV Chargepoint Grant is designed for drivers of electric vehicles living in a flat who need access to home charging. The eligibility criteria states you must:
- Either own or live in a rented property
- Have access to off-street parking to charge your vehicle
- Own, lease, or have use of an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle
If you don’t meet the above criteria, you’ll be unable to apply for the grant. You also won’t be eligible if you:
- Have already claimed an electric vehicle grant like the EVHS
- Plan on moving house
- Are just requesting a new chargepoint to replace your current one
- Are requesting to move your chargepoint elsewhere
- Own the house you are living in
Which electric vans are eligible for the EV Chargepoint Grant?
The grant is open to most electric vehicles – including electric vans – though not all of these are eligible. All battery electric vehicles will be eligible, though plug-in hybrids will only be eligible if they produce under 50g/km in CO2 emissions.

How do you apply for the EV Chargepoint Grant?
The EV Chargepoint Grant is relatively simple to apply for, and you can do so in a few simple steps:
1. Find a local installer near you and ask them for a quote. It’s important to make sure you use an OZEV-approved installer, otherwise you may forfeit eligibility for the grant.
2. When you’ve chosen an installer, you can then create an account and begin your application using the online portal.
3. The installer will come out to install the chargepoint in the agreed location.
4. You’ll then need to log into the portal and upload all necessary photos and information needed to complete your claim.
5. Your claim will be assessed and if successful, the grant will be paid to your installer who will deduct it from your invoice.
The work must be completed within 90 days of your application being approved, otherwise you’ll need to make an extension.
OZEV may also complete an audit of your chargepoint in the future, in which case they will be in touch with you.
